White Coat Ceremony

Last Friday Jeff had his white coat ceremony for dental school. Pretty much they just walk across stage after their name is read, the dean puts their coat on them and takes a pictures, then they walk off. I suppose it is kind of like graduation, except much shorter...only one hour! My camera wouldn't take very good pics cuz I was sitting far away, but you get the idea.

Jeff walking down the isle to his seat.
Jeff walking onto stage to get his white coat. I should add, while you can still see his "outfit" that he got many comliments on it and was very proud of that fact. If you didn't know Jeff likes to dress well, now you do. He usually asks me everyday, "What do you think I should wear? Do you think this looks okay?" Honestly, I am the one in the relationship struggling to dress well and he asks me??? I usually tell him it looks great and he usually disagrees with me and ends up wearing something different. Did I mention he does all my clothes shopping? And he does a GREAT job!
Here he is in his white coat.
Here is his whole class, all 57 of them, with Jeff in the middle.
Jeff and me. Most of us wives were wishing this was graduation instead of the beginning ceremony. Four more years of not seeing our husbands...
Jeff looking sharp! Most of the LDS kids in the dental program, except Renee, but she fits in great regardless. In fact, I usually just forget she isn't a member and then she will ask about something we have been talking about, like wards. One time she said, "You guys keep talking about wards. It sounds like a psych ward or something...what is it?"

This last one is a pic of everyone and their families. I know it looks like there are a lot of kids, but all those kids belong to one family, save two babies. The rest are childless or have their baby still in their tummies, like me! Only two months to go!

Top Ten Cheesy Pick up Lines

Sorry for posting such a sad story...here is something to bring a bit of cheer back into your day. Remember any of these from those fun dating years? I know I do! What I would really like it know is if anyone has ever, SERIOUSLY, used one of these...?

1. “What’s your sign?”
2. “Pardon me, I seem to have lost my phone number, can I borrow yours?”
3. “You must be a broom because you’re sweeping me off my feet.”
4. “Do you have a license? Because you’re driving me crazy.”
5. “I gotta thirst and baby, you look like my Gatorade.”
6. “Are you lost? Because heaven’s a long way from here.”
7. “Are you religious? Because you’re the answer to all my prayers.”
8. “Can I take your picture? I want Santa to know exactly what I want for Christmas.”
9. “Do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again?”
10. “Well, here I am. What are your other two wishes?”

Sad News

I am not sure why I want to write about this on my blog. Maybe it is because I am expecting a baby boy of my own in a couple months....yesterday I met Jeff for lunch and he shared with me that one of his classmates 7-month-old baby stopped breathing during the night sometime. The parents discovered this about 1:30 a.m. and started doing CPR on him and were able to get a heartbeat back while waiting for the ambulance. However, the doctors were not able to get the baby's body temperature up above 92F, which generally means he is gone but his body is still functioning because of machines. The baby passed away yesterday evening. The baby's name is Parker, one of the names that Jeff and I like. Jeff actually was talking to the guy and that is where Jeff discovered the name for our baby. Sorry for the sad entry, but I can't help but think how grateful I am for the gospel, eternal families and the knowledge I have of the plan of salvation. I don't know what this family believes, but I just hope they believe they will be with their son again.

Poor Poor Jeef

Dental school is finally taking its toll on Jeff's body...and mind, I might add. He has come down with a nasty head cold and it isn't easing up at all. Poor guy has two tests and a quiz this week too. It isn't unnatural nowadays to see him walking around the apartment with toilet paper wadded up and stuck up his nose, with some of it hanging out.

On top of that, he is definitely stressed and not getting enough sleep. He has been getting about 5-6 1/2 hours a night, which isn't too bad, but he should be getting eight. I can tell he isn't getting enough sleep because he has started sleep walking and saying really weird things at night. This has been going on for a couple weeks and was only a couple times but now it is every night. For example, he keeps waking up and sitting straight up in bed, which will wake me up. Then he will blurt something out and then lay back down and go to bed. When I ask him what he said or if he is okay, there is usually no reply. He has also started waking up around 2:00 a.m. and turning off the alarm clock (even though it hasn't gone off) and getting up to get ready for school. One time I woke up and he was getting out of bed to walk to the bathroom. I asked him what he was doing and he said his alarm went off and he was getting ready for school. I said it was 2:00 in the morning and then he was like, "Oh, okay" and came back to bed. He had no memory of this the next morning.

Last night he woke up again and started exclaiming, "Hot! I am hot! It is so hot in here!" Then he started to get out of bed. I told him to lay down and I got up and told him I would put the fan on him. So I got it out and turned it on, then went to set it facing him and he was already practically snoring again. The next morning he woke up and asked me why the fan was on. I told him, "You said you were hot." He said, "Oh, I don't remember that. I thought you turned it on because I was tooting and it stunk."

Needless to say, nights have been quite interesting around here lately...just give it a couple months and they will get even more interesting, for me at least with a crying baby. Then I might be the one hallucinating!

P.S. Jeef is my nickname for Jeff

The REAL state of the union address (funny)

This video is hilarious! Jeff showed it to me the other night and I thought you might enjoy it. Someone has a lot of time on their hands, but it was definitely time well spent...even though I should point out that I am not a "Bush hater." My dad served in Kuwait and Iraq and if he says it is good that we are doing over there, I tend to believe him because he was actually there. Regardless, this is still funny! :)

6 1/2 months pregnant

I decided it was about time for another post of my belly, so here it is! This is the first maternity shirt I have put on. You can't tell, but I am pulling the shirt in with my other hand because it is still really big on me. When I bought it I bought a medium because I am a medium in my normal shirts, but I have realized that I am really a small or extra small in maternity outfits. Oh well...I will keep growing I am sure! My eyes are kind of shut, but you still get the point! :)
The baby is now moving quite a bit and likes to kick my in the ribs, specifically the right side, and tickle me on the left side of my stomach. I have gained about 12 pounds so far. I have been exercising daily, but the past week or so I have started getting lightheaded and almost fainting when I do. You know when you stand up too fast and your vision gets black or cloudy? That is what it is like. The minute I stop exercising and sit down, I am fine. It only happens when I exercise in the morning after about 20 minutes of walking. Has this ever happened to you? I am guessing it is a "side effect" for some women of being pregnant since our blood vessels are dilated. My blood pressure last week was 90/48 and my pulse was 60 something, so I know blood pressure may be playing into this, but it hasn't ever happened to me before being pregnant, so I am assuming it is pregnancy related. Any suggestions or similar experiences would be appreciated!

Wedding Photos

I have been going through some of my wedding photos and photoshopping them. Here are some that turned out alright, although I am realizing I still have a lot to learn, but it helps when you have a great photographer! This is a favorite of mine.
This one already had the flowers left pink, but I made the color a little lighter.

Evolution of Dance

I don't know how to post videos in here, so click on the link and watch. It is pretty neat to watch! Also, if anyone can tell me how to post a video, I would appreciate it. I tried to go to the insert video thingy, but I can't figure out how to get a video off YouTube onto my computer.

Baby Names Results

I thought I would update everyone on the results of the baby names.

Gavin has 2 votes and Jeff absolutely hates this name, so it is out.

Ashton has 14 votes, but I found out that one of my friends voted for this names 8 times, so if we take his votes out and give him just one, Ashton has 7 votes.

Collin has 3 votes. This is Jeff's favorite name, but we have decided against it because Collin Bird sounds like Calling Bird...

Jackson has 1 vote. We have also ruled this one out. It is too popular now a days and I don't really like it too much.

Carter has 7 votes and we really like this name.

Sooooooo, pretty much we are down to Carter and Ashton. Jeff is concerned about Ashton not being manly enough of a name. He likes Carter, but is disappointed that it means "puller of a cart." He wanted something "stronger!" Anyway, he likes Ethan right now too, but I don't really like that name. He also likes the idea of naming the baby with a name that starts with a "T" with a middle name of Rex (his grandpa's name) so he can call him T Rex for short. However, the only "T" names I like are Todd and Thomas (not Tom or Tommy) and of course, Jeff doesn't like these. Pretty much our baby will be named Baby until we see him and maybe longer...Any name suggestions???

Labor Day Apple Picking

For Labor Day, we went with a few other families in our ward to an apple orchard to pick apples. It was a blast and the drive out there was beautiful! Kentucky countryside is gorgeous, only I forgot to get pics of that, but I got plenty of us apple picking!

I actually went apple picking on Saturday too and made an apple pie from the apples I picked that day. I also picked blackberries that day and made freezer jam from them. I have never tasted anything better then my mom's homemade strawberry jam, but I have to say blackberry freezer jam is now the winner! I made apple crisp with the ones I picked today and I still have three huge Ziploc bags full of yummy apples too! FYI: Apples will last months in the fridge if you put them in a Ziploc bag. Following are some pics of our fun! This first is my nephew Will. He is the cutest little kid. Everyone says he looks like Jeff did when he was little, so maybe this is a sneak peek at what our baby boy will look like...? Probably not quite as cute, but hopefully close! Here is the orchard store we picked at. It is called Reed Family Orchard. They also have peaches, pears, and all kinds of berries, but there was a frost early spring that killed all the blossoms, so this year they are pretty much all apples.
Here's Jeff and I posing like the farmer with a pitch fork and strange looking wife in that one famous picture...I can't remember the name of it.

Here is Jeff and our niece, Amanda, and Garrett, our nephew. The pitch fork thing is for getting apples out of high branches...
But you can see that Garrett actually did a better job of getting the right apple.
Here is me, looking bald with my hair pulled back, but you can at lesat see my six months along belly a little better.
Jeff and I sitting in the rocking chairs just outside the country store. We sat here for awhie with everyone and ate ice cream and apples and cooled down. For those of you who may be wondering, I did pass on the ice cream. I am still going strong with my no sugar diet...almost five years!
