No Pictures

This is a post of no pictures. Not much else goes on in our lives that doesn't have to do with Maddox. At this point he still rules our lives, so this is still about him, but without photos.

Recently Maddox has been crying and screaming literally whenever I try to feed him. Why? I have absolutely no idea. The only thing I can think of is that I am eating something he doesn't like? I am on this new diet where I don't eat any sugar in any form whatsoever and no complex carbohydrates...So I am eating a lot of veggies and wondering if any of you have any suggestions as to what your own babies have struggled with when you nursed.

He also won't sleep AT ALL! This has been going on since birth a bit, but has gotten extremely bad because now he is really really tired and always yawning and rubbing his eyes and fussy. He will only fall asleep when either Jeff or I are holding him upright or with the pacifier and it is only after at least 30 minutes of coaxing. Then the minute we put him down he wakes up and refuses to go back to sleep. I still love him tons, but any advice would be more than welcomed!

Happy Valentine's Day a Few Days Late

I just love to kiss his cheeks...I made Jeff take a couple photos of me with Maddox because most of the pictures we have are of Jeff and Maddox or just Maddox himself. I was all sweaty from working out. Poor guy getting a sweaty sticky kiss!

Last night I had Maddox in the Bumbo and when I tried to take him out his bum got stuck!
An almost naked picture just to see how much he is growing. I put him in a six month outfit yesterday and he is barely 2 1/2 months old! I don't get it either becaue he is just in the 50th percentile for length too!
This is his new thing, holding his hands right in front of his chest. He will look at them once in awhile and go cross-eyed too. It is cute. The other thing he does with them is shove them in his mouth and choke himself. Not so fun because he gets upset when that happens and can't figure out what is going wrong.
But he is still cute and I love him!
Jeff and Maddox sleeping...another use for the Boppy too!

Happy Valentine's Day! Jeff and I had our most creative Valentine's celebration ever...Since we are in dental school and have no income, we had to be creative this year. Funny thing is that both of us did the same thing for the other person! We both did treasure hunts for each other. It was so fun and we both enjoyed it tons. I did rhymes for my treasure hunt clues and Jeff did puzzle pieces. He had written a message on posterboard and cut it up into pieces and put clues on the pieces. When I had found all of them, I put them together and he had written a poem to me. It was so cute! I love my husband and I love loving him!

Please disregard my voice in this video...I am a terrible singer, but I wanted to show you how silly Maddox is. I made a paper plate face for him and he absolutely goes nuts when he sees it. Here he goes only halfway nuts. Usually he screams and talks a giggle and coos a ton, but he is a little camera shy. Either way, you get the idea!

Family Photos

I guess they turned out okay, but really I am showing you the best ones there are...I will include a sample of just how horrible our photographer really was at the end. Good thing it was free except for the photos we picked out to pay for! Lesson learned: Never have a person who calls themselves a professional photographer but is wearing a wife beater take your photos... :)
A bow!?!? On a boy!?!? Jeff absolutely hates this photos, but I love his facial expressions. Although the bow isn't my fav, it will be really nice to show his girlfriends in the future and tease him!

Example of how BAD our photos turned out!

More Pictures

Not much has been going on in our lives, except lots of eating and not much sleeping (for me...not for Maddox). Actually, Maddox sleeps pretty well, except when he has to go number two, which he conveniently has to do a lot during the night. He will wake himself up to go! Last night he woke up grunting and growning and pushing three times and loaded his diaper! Boy do I love changing poopy diapers in the dark too...Anyway, here is a pic of Maddox after one of his feeding frenzies. Can you tell he likes to eat by the size of that watermelon of a tummy! You can even see his diaper marks from the diaper being too tight! We are already in size twos and 3-6 month clothing. Maddox sleeping in his swing and no I did not leave him like this. I propped his head up with a blanket so he wouldn't get a kink (sp?), although I am not sure that babies even get kinks with their amazing flexibility!
This is his new thing...sucking on his hands. Jeff has tried a couple times to get him to suck on his thumb and Maddox has had his thumb in there, but he keeps his hand in a tight fist and so never has succeeded in finding it. Once in awhile a finger, usually his index finger, will escape the fist and he will end up choking/gagging himself. Then his self soothing method fails and he starts getting upset cuz he can't figure out what is going on. It is kind of funny. :)
Here is Maddos during tummy time...a complete flop. I think he would get an F if he were being graded. His giant head is just too much for him so he usually just turns his head to one side and lays there until I pick him up. Funny guy.
So in order to help him strengthen his neck muscles, we got him a Bumbo off of Craig's List really cheap. Yeah for Craig's List! You can see he has a lot to work on! It isn't easy being top heavy and having a head that is in the 100th percentile and a body that is 50% behind it! Oh, and by the way, at his two month check up he weighed 12 lbs. 10 oz. and was 22 1/2 inches long and his head was 42 cm around, so his little body is slowly catching up to his head. His only grew one cm since his last check up. Good thing it is slowing down!

Two Month Checkup

Maddox smiling. He has started cooing and talking and absolutely LOVES the Itsy Bitsy Spider. He also loves it when you stick your tongue out. Sometimes, maybe by accident...he will stick his tongue out too. Sucking on his hands...his new favorite thing to do. Jeff keeps trying to get him to find his thumb, but I am hoping that doesn't happen. Right now it is his whole fist.
Chubby legs and smiling. He really likes getting his diaper changed and kicks and flails all around!
A close up... I think he is looking more like Jeff everyday!
Matthew, his cousin who is 5 weeks older, and Maddox, playing together. You can see Jeff's big black man lower lip here.

It seems I never have time to post much of anything but pics right now and even that is stretching it...Maddox just doesn't sleep and when he does sleep, I have so much to do around the house. Seriously, I don't know how moms do it all. Pretty much if you come over to my house and it is a mess, please know I am still learning how to be super mom...it may take me a few kids, or I may never reach that point.

Anyway, Maddox had his two month check up a couple days ago and it went surprisingly well. I made Jeff come along because I didn't know if I could stand the shots Maddox got, but it wasn't too bad. All the hospital stuff a month ago was enough to get me broken into motherhood and doctors....still don't like them much. Maddox weighed in at 12 lb. 10 oz and was 22 1/2 inches long, which is about the 50th percentile I think. He was so good and only cried a little. He hasn't been too fussy either, although the rest of that day he just wanted to be held. He is so much fun to be with and learns new "tricks" everyday!
